Raised in a dog show family, I had shown several breeds but had never noticed salukis.
Then in 1974, I attended a kennel club meeting where a saluki breeder showed a video of his dogs coursing in the desert. I was smitten! That Christmas, my present from my dad was a saluki puppy.
Thus began a love affair that has lasted 30 years. For many years, I showed intermittently (between children and returning to college) and bred infrequently. As the children grew and my career stabilized, I was able to devote more time to dog activities.
About 10 years ago I became very interested in open field coursing. Walking through a field on a crisp winter day and hunting with my hounds and my friends is an experience that I have come to love!
My goal as a breeder is to produce elegant, sound hounds that excel in the field and in the ring. Temperaments are extremely important to me as well. My family and I want to enjoy our hounds as pets too!
My older daughter Nicole is now grown up. She lives in Denver with her husband and two fun rescue mutts.
My youngest daughter, Erin, promises to be the next generation to breed dogs! She is an accomplished open field coursing slipper and has handled our dogs to several of their OFC points.
Erin was just five when she showed her first dog – Sunflower the dachshund.

Her biggest problem was getting the dachshund up on the table!
Since that day, she has grown up.

Now an excellent show handler, she is often asked to show other people’s dogs when she isn’t showing ours! Erin showed Ari to most of her show points and was Ari’s handler when she won Best in Specialty at Willamette Valley Saluki Club.
Erin is also an avid athlete and plays mid-field and goal keeper in soccer.
